More than Crayola
As children, we are often defined and judged by how many crayons we have in our box of Crayolas. For some, it was the basic eight – not so impressive. For others it was 24. Then there were those “lucky” kids who had the 64 pack with the sharpener built into the back of the box. As adults, the days of coloring books and crayons are over – yet color is still an indispensable part of every day life. From the clothes we wear and the paint on our cars, to the color on our walls and in our décor, what we choose can communicate or evoke a whole plethora of emotions and expressions – such as power, romance, or relaxation.
Because color is so important, it is crucial to choose the right one when painting your home, office or any other room you spend time in. But this is definitely a daunting task! There are thousands of colors to choose from or you can create your own to match something in your décor! While many people shy away from the challenge of coordinating their paint colors to some item in their décor, it is actually the easiest way to develop a color scheme. Creating your color scheme from your favorite piece of furniture or artwork is the best way to express your own personality and gives you a foundation for ideas for the rest of your décor. This does not mean that you have everything the same color. Using your favorite artwork or a piece of furniture, you can create an entire color palette that compliments your personality.
